Body enhancement surgery, also known as cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, involves procedures aimed at improving a person’s appearance and has become very common among the youth. Examples include breast augmentation, liposuction, and facelifts.
Many women, especially celebrities and popular people have resorted to these surgeries to look overly feminine and it is gradually becoming disturbing. The internet is flooded with pictures of these people which has become the motivation factor for other young women who also crave perfect bodies.
In the past, getting access to these body enhancements was not an easy task as interested people would have to travel overseas to have them done at authorized health centers with professional plastic surgeons. However, that is not the case today. The influx of beauty “clinics” has made these procedures cheap and accessible at any given time. Sadly, the recklessness exhibited by some of these cosmetologists in giving patients these perfect bodies is causing more harm than good.
Many bodies have been botched, others have been left with grievous health implications and deaths have been reported as these unqualified “surgeons” continue to practice these “noninvasive” procedures as they call them. Before these surgeries, It’s essential to thoroughly research and consult with qualified professionals before considering such procedures but that certainly is not the case now.
But what is causing all these women to engage in these body enhancement procedures? Could it be pressure from society for women to have a certain type of perfect body or it’s just the desire to look perfect? Perhaps, maybe it’s an antidote for the inferiority complex syndrome. Anyway, everyone has their reasons for doing so.
How can we curb this menace? Maybe it’s time the government puts measures in place to regulate these “beauty clinics” rendering these services.
Well, desiring a perfect body is understandable, however, if the risks outweigh the benefits, then it should not be encouraged. People who want to look perfect should perform due diligence and see the qualified personnel before doing so.
