Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old Ghanaian environmental activist living in the USA is now the current record holder for the most trees hugged by an individual in one hour. He is a forestry student studying at Auburn University, USA. Interestingly, Abubakar grew up in a farming community in Tepa, Ghana. According to Guinness World Records, Abubakar’s interest in nature and its preservation developed from there.
The event was said to have taken place at the Tuskegee National Forest in Alabama, USA, where he embraced nearly 19 trees per minute and a total of 1,123 trees in an hour.
The Guinness World Record announced this on Friday in an official statement.
“Ghanaian activist Abubakar Tahiru hugged a total of 1,123 trees, averaging almost 19 per minute.
Abubakar grew up in a farming community in Tepa, Ghana, where he developed a keen interest in nature and its conservation!
Abubakar says the hardest part of the record attempt was having to move quickly between trees while ensuring that each hug met the required standards!”
